Chef Scott Simpson

Founding Partner / Strategic Culinary Advisor

Scott Simpson is a culinary veteran with over 30 years of global experience and a founding Co-Owner of The Depot. Having established a reputation for culinary excellence leading ultra-luxury kitchens across the globe—from the JW Marriott brand to Capella Hotels—Chef Simpson brought his international expertise to Auburn to establish The Depot as a world-class seafood brasserie.

His global leadership includes running and opening luxury properties across three continents in locations such as Quito (Ecuador), Mumbai (India), Bali, Jamaica, Ixtapa (Mexico), Singapore, Panama, and Georgetown (Washington D.C.). This vast experience included training international chefs and serving as an international judge in the Culinary Olympics.

Since arriving in Alabama, his dedication to elevating the state’s food scene has been widely recognized, including being named Alabama Chef of the Year and a winner of the Alabama Seafood Cook-Off while representing The Depot.

In his current role as Founding Partner & Strategic Culinary Advisor, Chef Scott has transitioned from the day-to-day operations to focus on family and the long-term strategic success of the restaurant. He remains fully committed to The Depot’s mission, providing high-level guidance, mentorship, and support for the new leadership team ensuring the continued evolution of The Depot’s innovative cuisine.
